"My mom was a baker. We had coffee cakes for breakfast, tasty hot lunches, and homemade desserts after a full dinner. The kitchen was always a good place to be. My older sister carries on this talent and can whip up an apple pie in minutes. I can't decide which I like better--to bite into a fresh, juicy apple pie or hot apple crisp with ice cream. | This
quilt is dedicated to the memory of my late mother, Grace Phyllis Cain Gergely, who perished in a tornado (Indiana) in 1942. The photo shows us together three-four months prior to her decease. (I was six.) These fabrics are indicative of those popular in the 1930's/1940's (note design in her dress, the curtains, and cannisters). |
