Using the fabrics designated, the Illinois Star block below was entered in the "Quilt for a Cure" Block Challenge during the Alaskan Cruise for a Cure trip held May 22, - May 29, 2005. I would never do a complete quilt using the Illinois Star block pattern...too time-consuming!

We were sent fabrics to be used for a "Friendship at Sea" quilt block challenge. There would be blocks selected to form a quilt. My block is pictured at left and below. It is Illinois Star, and it took me three days to complete. All seventeen judges awarded it first place.
