Robert Murray Dildine graduated from North High in the January, 1942 class. He was in the Iowa National Guard during high school days. His next of kin was shown as M.J. Dildine living at 3706 5th Avenue, Des Moines, IA.

At the persuasion of his brother, Salmeron Dildine (North High, 1932), Bob eventually moved to Washington, D.C. where he was employed by the FBI. While in the employ of the FBI, he received his draft notice. He joined the US Navy.

Bob served aboard the USS Hector (AR-7), a repair ship, probably shortly after it was commissioned in 1944. In the 1940's, the USS Hector was considered the No. 1 Repair Ship of the Fleet in the Navy. When he retired, Robert Murray Dildine was a Yeoman 2nd Class.
