What is an extension?
Extensions allow you to easily add new features to Dreamweaver. Partners and customers have created many extensions, and they are available, mostly for free, through this site. Extensions let you do all sorts of things. For example, you will find extensions to let you:
Reformat tables
Instantly embed QuickTime movies
Detect and redirect visitors based on their browser type
Connect to back end databases
Use the Extension Manager to download extensions and add them to Dreamweaver. Check back frequently; we post more all the time.

How to use extensions
Begin by downloading the Macromedia Extension Manager. It runs within Dreamweaver and lets you easily install new extensions and keep track of the ones you already have. First, download the Extension Manager installer and save it on your computer. Then double-click the installer to begin the installation process. Once the installation is complete, you can launch the Extension Manager from within Dreamweaver by choosing Manage Extensions from the Commands menu.
Don't have the new Extension Manager? Update your software here.
Once you have the Extension Manager installed, begin adding extensions. In this site, each extension has its own page that includes the extension package, a short description, user ratings and reviews, and a discussion group where you can post questions and get answers about that extension.

When you find an extension you like, download it to your machine. Launch the Extension Manager, and choose Install Extension from the File menu. Navigate to the extension package (MXP) file you just downloaded, and click Install. It's that simple.

This is a Behavior. It changes the Background color of your page. The Behavior can be applied to the body onload or triggered by clicking a button. It can even be called from a timeline. Access from the 'Background Color Changer' entry in the Behavior Palette.
