We are deeply saddened to report the death of Jim McCauley, Company G-2,
in Boca Raton, Florida, on January 15, 2022.

"My soul fleeth unto the Lord before the morning watch;
I say, before the morning watch"
Psalm 130, The West Point Prayer Book

"Mac", naturally, was the name we assigned to Jim during our cadet years. The Howitzer notes that Jim was an Air Force brat who came from a long line of career officers, receiving his appointment from St. Petersburg, Florida. He readily settled into the Corps and Company G-2 life, managed the abstraction of academics, and found the world of Corps sports and athletics to be his element as a cadet. Choosing Artillery as branch choice, he went forward to a first duty assignment in Germany with the 99th Artillery Group. But a larger dream was pulling him to go into the field of medicine, took a leave of absence and secured an MD degree from the University of Florida, completed his internship at Walter Reed General Hospital with the Medical Corps, then transferred to the civilian world in 1967.
Jim, wife Carol Ann, and sons Robert and Michael, relocated to Florida and the world of private medical practice. Tragedy struck later with Carol Ann being diagnosed with diabetes, and then being lost to the family in 1972.

During this period Jim was seeking to add another desired dimension, flying, into his activities. He gained his pilot's license and joined with others in developing a medical-flight firm paralleling his health practice. Both boys also became licensed pilots, careering in aviation, participating and joining with Jim in this activity.

Later, Jim and Cindy were married in 1997, with the family living in Boca Raton. Two younger sons joined the family, Sean and Christopher, keeping things exciting for everyone. The medical flight activity and related aviation actions continued to be a major business attraction throughout.

A private family service is being planned for a later date. Lee Fay, Company G-2 CCQ, will serve as our overall Class POC. Family contact may be made with:

The Class shares now in the years of friendship and the many experiences as cadets at West Point. We join in prayers and condolences for Cindy and the McCauley children, Robert, Michael, Sean and Christopher, for grandchildren, and for the extended family. We share also in prayers and condolences to their friends and to fellow classmates in Company G-2.

May it be said, "Well done, Be thou at peace...."
