We are deeply saddened to report the death of Bob Pointer, Company
              G-2, in Stuart, Florida, April 30, 2021.

"My soul fleeth unto the Lord before the morning watch;I say, before the morning watch"
Psalm 130, The West Point Prayer Book
Notice of Bob's death was reported by his brother-in-law, Jim Murphy,
through George Lawton, CCQ for G-2. Very sadly, Bob's wife, Marianne
O'Callaghan, was lost to us last year on June 27th 2020. Plans are
being developed by the family for a memorial service at West Point
in September, where Bob will be placed next to Marianne. Information
of this will be provided to our class by George upon being finalized.Bob grew up here in Portland where his family owned a logging equipment
and fabrication company back when lumbering and forestry were dominant
in Oregon's commercial realm. Bob notes his father, a WWII marine,
encouraged him to apply for the Academy, where he joined us in the
Class of '58. Bob was commissioned in Air Defense Artillery, later
transferring to the Ordnance branch for a full career of service.
His assignments covered a full spectrum of Ordnance activities including
service in Korea and Viet Nam, and also included those mysterious
places we all heard about, Watervliet Arsenal, Picatinny Arsenal,
and the Pentagon. Many of us shared in troop commands at the same
time in the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson when Bob commanded
              the 43rd General Support Group.
Following retirement Bob established his own consulting company
and continued to serve the military community in his important discipline.
Following this second career endeavor, he and Marianne retired to
Jensen Beach, Florida, with related visits to Arizona and many other
places of interest, enjoying treasured times with family and friends.
 . . . . . . We share in condolences and prayers for Bob's children
and their families, and to his extended family. Our hearts go out
to them, to their friends and to fellow classmates in Company G-2. May it be said, "Well done, Be thou at peace...."
