Pineapple Juice
Drinking 100% pineapple juice is a delicious way to get important nutritional benefits. Nutritionists recommend taking 3-4 servings of fruit every day. A glass of 100 % pineapple juice is equivalent to a serving of fruit.
Pineapples are:
- Large, juicy tropical fruit with sweet yellow flesh and a prickly skin.
- Are ripe when they smell sweet and their leaves release easily.
- Fresh pineapples contain a protein-splitting enzyme, like kiwis. This enzyme is no longer active in canned pineapple because the pineapple has been cooked.
- Pineapple cannot (should not) be stored in the refrigerator like most tropical fruit.
- Indians used pineapple plants as a fence because the leaves of the plant are very sharp.
- Pineapples are plentiful sources of vitamin A and vitamin C.
