History tells us that grapes have been cultivated for a long time, since Egyptian reliefs from 2440 BC show vineyards and pictures of wine making. It is common knowledge that the Romans loved and cultivated the fruit. Active vineyards continue today on Italian hillsides, as well as flourishing all over the world. Winemaking in the United States has grown to worldwide recognition and acclaim within the last thirty years.
